This Bucket List is ever changing, so I’ll be updating this regularly. As a plus-size traveler, I have a few specific destinations on my bucket list, but most of theseare general interest.

Anyway, here’s what’s on the bucket list today:

  • Visit Antartica. (This is my 7th and final continent, and I’m planning to go the backpack route via Ushuaia… tips welcome if anyone’s done it!)
  • Return to Chefchaouen, Morocco (one of my favorite places on Earth!)
  • Play with elephants in Southeast Asia. Yes, I am the one person in the world who visited Thailand and did not visit the elephants. When I was in Chiang Mai, the only elephant sanctuary that seemed ethical was booked up in advance and I didn’t get to go! I did see some very happy wild elephants in Sri Lanka, though. 🙂
  • Visit every Canadian province.
  • Float in the Dead Sea
  • Own my own boat and successfully singlehand on a solo journey. (I can sail, but I haven’t sailed long distance by myself, and it’s a dream of mine.)
  • Go to Carnival in Brazil. (I feel like Brazil should be on every plus size bucket list, because they appreciate curves like no other culture!)
  • Volcano-board in Nicaragua. This looks amazing, and is only low-key dangerous. Sort of.
  • Visit Cape Town.
  • Visit Carlsbad Caverns in New Mexico. I don’t even know if this is a cool destination – I just thought it sounded awesome when I was six. I was unsuccessful in talking my parents into taking us there, and now that I’m a grown-up, I feel like I should check it off.
  • Walk across the equator on foot.
  • Swim in Jellyfish Lake in Palau.
  • Dogsled in Alaska
  • Write a memoir. You know I’m gonna. 😉
  • Visit all of the bone churches….  I saw Sedlec Ossuary in Czech Republic, and it was transformative.
  • Sleep in an Ice Hotel!
  • Visit the catacombs in Paris
  • Make my way to Greenland.
  • Rent a room in Istanbul and do some writing there. Don’t ask me why I know I’d get a lot of writing done in Istanbul… I just do.
  • Sunbathe at every topless beach I can find.
  • See the canals and eat all of the dumplings in Suzhou, China.
  • Do an extended European burlesque tour. It’s the damndest thing, but for all the traveling I’ve done, I’ve hardly spent any time in Europe at all. I know amazing performers and venues there… I just need to muster the organizational capability to plan another tour!

What’s on your bucket list? I’d love to hear!

Bucket list: South-Africa (going in January, YAY), Namibia (unfortunately, although it is next door to S-Africa, it won’t fit in this time), Australia and NZ, Argentina…
